Welcome to my Blog

05.2025
This month is significant for quite a few reasons. First and foremost, I've begun the journey of co-founding a new business here in Southwest FL, called "The Common Ground Gallery & Collective". At TCG, we aspire to uplift artists and artisans of many varieties and media. Follow us on IG/Facebook to keep up with our journey as we continue to catch momentum! Our next event will be at the Alliance for the Arts on Wednesday 5/14 from 5-8pm. ALSO this month, I am preparing for my first solo exhibition at DAAS CO-OP. More to come on this!

Origins. Color palette play. Stay tuned to see what artwork this color palette corresponds to!

A unique aspect about this piece is the hand-crafted background texture traced with my fingertips. A pervasive outline of this Port Jackson shark echoes around its body in a way that resembles ripples in water.

A metamorphosis is under way...

01.2025
Beginning stages of a new commission. Trying something completely new by accepting the challenge of taking on a portrait, but I believe I'm ready to rise to the occasion. This portrait is of a local musician here in SWFL.

Bright beams of sunlight shine through the leaves of a healthy Fiddle Leaf Fig. This work in progress is a photo of a client's own house plant, who wanted a commission painting to celebrate their thriving botanic friend!

Watching a color palette evolve is its own journey. At the end of a paint session, I look back on all of the varieties of colors that came clashing together.

These banana leaves are currently being shaped and textured. Funny thing how my painting endeavor has now expanded to almost sculpting..!

Experimentation is key to expanding our horizons. This abstract artwork incorporates a type of gold metal leaf I haven't used before. The freedom of the raw brush strokes and paint swatches seems to unfurl like filigree.

Revisiting a favorite houseplant of mine - the Rubber Plant. A feature I enjoyed creating on this piece is the monochrome texture background which appears to be a ripple effect, echoing the shape of each leaf to the canvas's edge.

07.2024
Bold monstera leaves, even bolder contrast.

06.2024
I used every single shade of green in my artillery to accomplish the natural gradients I envisioned. Calming shades of cream and aqua embellish these variegated banana leaves.

05.2024
I always enjoy seeing the color palette I'm using reflected on the edge of my brush.

04.2024
Branching out! New additions to my tool belt: Swiss cheese plants and gold foil.

03.2024
Using a joint compound mixture, this rubber plant unfurls off of the canvas and casts dramatic shadows. Sophisticated and elegant in its minimalistic and monochrome appearance, this botanical artwork is an extension of an artistic style I'm developing and refining.

02.2024
Although floral subjects are a bit of a rarity for me, I enjoyed using the full spectrum of color on this Lotus commission project.

Capturing depth with shadows, highlights and the contrast between them is a captivating and gratifying process. Vibrant and vivacious, I can't get enough of painting my favorite houseplants!

12.2023
Capturing the frills and feathered texture of banana leaves with a new medium - joint compound.

11.2023
Trust the process. Being receptive to experimenting and new discoveries has led me to create different aesthetics with various mediums. I want my paintings to be a tangible experience inviting the viewer to feel and experience art on a tactile level.

10.2023
This monochromatic textured botanical opened the door for me to explore a new style of art. Focusing primarily on texture and away from color, this artwork inspired a new series, where my favorite types of art (botanical and abstract) intersect.

09.2023
Variegated plants are often so colorful, they appear almost animated. I enjoy capturing the likeness of these plants, from their incredible tones to the gorgeous curvature and bevels of their lush leaves.

08.2023
A vibrant and thriving eucalyptus climbs the canvas, unfurling in every direction. Abstract texture resembling rainfall sets a serene tone for this botanical piece.

07.2023
With subtle variations of aqua, this dreamy agave features neon yellow highlights, and soft lavender undertones.

06.2023
New challenges. A multimedia technique gives this lily extra dimension as it rests above the painted canvas.
